Particulars of Offence
The offence pertains to the illegal transportation of forest produce, namely 400 (four hundred) bags of Areca nut (non-edible supari), without a valid Transit Pass issued by the Forest Department. On 14th January, 2026, during routine monitoring of plantation activities, five Tata trucks bearing Registration Nos. MN05B-3871, AS11AC-5658, MZ05-3591, MN03-1598 and AS01DC-0285 were intercepted at Larong along the Chahmol–Moltuh Road while transporting the said forest produce from Laijang to Chandel. Upon verification, the drivers failed to produce any valid Transit Pass or lawful authority for such transportation, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 41(2)(b) of the Indian Forest (Manipur Amendment) Act, 2018, read with Rule 37(3) of the Manipur Forest Rules, 2021.
POR Contents
That on 14th January, 2026, during routine monitoring of plantation activities by the Tengnoupal Forest Division, forest officials intercepted five Tata trucks bearing Registration Nos. MN05B-3871, AS11AC-5658, MZ05-3591, MN03-1598 and AS01DC-0285 at Larong along the Chahmol–Moltuh Road. On inspection, the vehicles were found transporting 400 (four hundred) bags of Areca nut (non-edible supari) from Laijang towards Chandel. The drivers were asked to produce valid Transit Passes (TPs) issued by the Forest Department for transportation of the said forest produce; however, they failed to produce any such document. As the transportation was carried out without lawful authority, the forest produce along with the vehicles was seized on the spot and a POR was registered against the drivers under Section 41(2)(b) of the Indian Forest (Manipur Amendment) Act, 2018, read with Rule 37(3) of the Manipur Forest Rules, 2021, for further legal action as per law.
Action Taken
On detection of the offence, the 400 (four hundred) bags of Areca nut (non-edible supari) along with five Tata trucks bearing Registration Nos. MN05B-3871, AS11AC-5658, MZ05-3591, MN03-1598 and AS01DC-0285 were seized on the spot as per provisions of the forest laws. A POR was registered under Section 41(2)(b) of the Indian Forest (Manipur Amendment) Act, 2018, read with Rule 37(3) of the Manipur Forest Rules, 2021. The seized forest produce and vehicles were thereafter taken into custody and kept under the safe custody of the Range Forest Officer (RFO), Moreh, at COB Larong, 21 AR and further action is being taken in accordance with law.
