Hunting of Barking Deer (Schedule III) at Maryland Village.

Based on the video of hunting of a Barking Deer circulated through Social Media, the accused (up-loader of the video), who was hailed from Wangjing, Thoubal District, was arrested by Range Officer, Thoubal Range under Thoubal Forest Division. On interrogation, the incident was happened on 27/04/2020 and the place of occurrence of the incident was ascertained at Maryland under Tengnoupal District. The Thoubal Forest Division handed over the case to Tengnoupal Forest Division. Range Officer/Tengnoupal Range took up the case. On further investigation, two more accused who were accompanying accused no 1, were arrested. Based on the findings of interrogation of the accused, they have gone for collecting vegetables in the hills near Maryland Village, Tengnoupal District. While returning back, they heard sound of firing gun and they came across a group of people surrounding a dead Deer near Volley-ball ground at Maryland. The accused no.1 captured the incident in his moblile and uploaded in social media on 29/04/2020. A case has been registered against the accused under section 9 and 57 of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Further Investigation for finding the accused who indulged in hunting of Wild Animals is in action.
