Seizure of illegal dumped timbers at Choro village

Seizure of illegal timbers at Choro village under Kangpat Block of Working Plan, Eastern Circle. on 5th & 6th January, 2023 RFO Phungyar & his team were on regular patrolling around Kangpat to Choro village which falls under Kangpat Block of Working Plan, Eastern Circle. On the way, the team spotted a timber dumped multiple spot at Choro village. On further investigation among the villagers, no one came forward to be the owner of timber neither they were able to produce any valid documents for the said timber. Thus all the timber (Khangra- Dipterocarpus turbinatus) was declared as an abandoned, unclaimed (Unknown owner) and illegal timber. Thus all the timber (Khangra- Dipterocarpus turbinatus)measuring approx. of 558.92 cum (919,738.38 cft) of 1542 nos. of logs was seized under Sec 52(10 & 64 of IFA, 1927 and accordingly POR was registered under Unknown owner.

The team lead by RFO Phungyar booked Forest Offence vide offence report no 5/2022-23 dt. 6th Jan, 2023 o/o RFO Phungyar Range and seized all the timber (Khangra- Dipterocarpus turbinatus) of total approx. of 558.92 cum (919,738.38 cft) (1542 nos. of logs) with strict warning that not a single timber are to be moved without a permission from the Forest Dept. and failure to comply will lead to serious legal action against the Village Authority.
The timber was declared as an abandoned, unclaimed (Unknown owner) and illegal timber and charged under Section 41, 45, 52 of IFA 1927 and Rule no. 33 of MFR 1971. Accordingly the timbers was seized for further legal procedure.
