Seizure of illegal timber logs of 574.66 cum viz. A1 class (Khangra logs) measuring approximately of 514.25 cum & Special class (Teak logs) measuring approximately 60.41 cum involved in the forest offence case no. 10/2023-24 dated 27/11/2023 of the RO, Phungyar.

On the 27th Nov, 2023, the Range Forest Officer, Phungyar Range and his patrolling team spotted a dumped timber logs of Khangra & Teak on the way towards the extreme north of Kangpat block i.e. Choro village from Aloyo (Kangpat) village. Therefore, the team investigated the villagers about the timber, but none of them were able to produce any valid legal documents for the said timber neither claim to be the owner of that timber logs. Thus the team seized the total timber logs of 574.66 cum viz. A1 class (Khangra logs) measuring approximately of 514.25 cum & Special class (Teak logs) measuring approximately 60.41 cum under Section 52 (1) and 64 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 read with Indian Forest (Manipur Amendment) Act, 2018. Upon seizure, Range Forest officer, Phungyar Range declared the timber as ‘Unclaimed timber of Unknown Owner’ and accordingly Preliminary Offence Reports (PORs) was registered. The details measurement of the seized timber was taken by a team led by Investigating officer, RFO, Phungyar Range and the same forest offence report was submitted to DFO Kamjong for further necessary action

All the illegal timber logs of 574.66 cum viz. A1 class (Khangra logs) measuring approximately of 514.25 cum & Special class (Teak logs) measuring approximately 60.41 cum was seized and forest offence case was registered against it. The seized timber was declared as ‘Unclaimed timber of Unknown Owner’ since nobody claimed to be the owner of the seized timber.
