Seizure of illegal timber transportation of total 67 logs (50.307 cum) of A1 class (Khangra- Dipterocarpus tuberculatus)

On 23rd March 2022 evening 10 (ten) truckload of A1 class (Khangra) was intercepted by 24 AR at Punom village, Kasom Khullen block, Kamjong district along Kasom-Namlee road. The said truckload was seized by the 24 AR as the owner of the timber was unable to produce legal documents issue by the concerned authority. The seized timber along with the 10 trucks was handed over to the Range Forest Officer, Kasom Khullen under DFO/ Kamjong. On further enquiry by the RFO/ Kasom Khullen ,the accused was about to transport the timber to Yairipok, Thoubal solely for business purpose and they admitted that offence has been committed out of ignorance. The accused was identified as Mr. Nanao S/o Jateshwor of Yairipok, Thoubal All the timber and vehicles involved in the illegal activities was seized and the applicable bond was paid to the RFO/ Kasom Khullen. The said timber & trucks was seized as per the violation of Indian Forest Act, 1927 Sec 41,42,52,53 & 55 of IFA 1927 & Rule no. 33 of MFR 1971. The same POR was submitted to DFO Kamjong as per POR 3/2021, memo no. 3/3/2021-22/RFO-kkl, dt 24th march 2022 for further necessary action. The accused Mr. Nanao S/o Jateshwor of Yairipok, Thoubal and his 10 trucks were arrested and seized ( approx of 50.307 cum of A1 class - Khangra- Dipterocarpus tuberculatus) and accordingly POR was submitted to DFO/Kamjong POR 4/2021, memo no. 3/3/2021-22/RFO-kkl, dt 24th march 2022 for further necessary action.
