Illegal excavation of Hill and Quarrying of stones and hill earth from Bijang Village Kangpokpi Districtnear NH 37 in Tairenpokpi Tamenglong Protected Forest Compt 3 of Leimaram Block

On 16th February 2021 at around 9 am a team of Bishnupur Range Office went to Keithelmanbi side for drone camera survey to detect and identify illegal quarry sites A new quarry site was identified near Bijang village some 4 km from the NH 37 The road leading to the quarry site was some 40 feet wide which was itself a newly excavated road to reach the quarry site We spotted 4 excavators at the quarry site but there was no persons or drivers at the work site and due to the lack of resources we could not seize and transport the excavators Nearby villagers informed us that the whole operation is being undertaken by HVS constructions The next day on 17th February a joint team of DFO Bishnupur DFO Kangpokpi DFO Noney DFO Central DFO thoubal and Police personnel of Kangpokpi PS went to the site but none of the 4 excavators were found at the site but instead we found tracks of the excavators downhill along the road On following the tracks the team came upon an enclosed premise where 8 earth movers were found including the 4 excavators which were at the Bijang quarry site the previous day On enquiring the workers present at the premise it was found out that the premise is of HVS Constructions ltd and the 4 excavators had been brought in at around 11 pm on 16th February till 1 am of 17th February 2021
The team seized the 4 excavators and transported to Mantripukhri Forest complex under the safe custody of Range Forest Officer Bishnupur Range

The excavators have been seized and kept in safe custody of Range Forest Officer Bishnupur Range at mantripukhri Forest Complex and a POR has been filed
